Rotary Member, Jim Donovan presenting Laura Slesar a children's book, "What we wear when we take care"
Rotary Meeting:
A few notes:
- Our club needs a new speech contest coordinator and we'd love to get a Vice President (or Co-Vice Presidents) on board!
- We had a very productive fundraising board meeting last Thursday and I'm looking forward to sharing information from that meeting. A big question we asked at the meeting was why are we fundraising. Should our club work toward a larger project identified during a community needs assessment? Thoughts? We'd love to hear them at the meeting this week.
- Two new events have been added to the opportunities below - a volunteer opportunity after our meeting on Wednesday and a Rotary training on Saturday in St. J.
- Sign up to support Sam and Lauren on their Meal Train to support them while they adjust to being parents!

Our speaker today is
Laura Slesar from Kidpower, Vermont. Kidpower Vermont, founded in 2006, is dedicated to providing safety education to people of all ages and abilities. They offer a variety of workshops, including Everyday Safety Skills, Parent/Child programs, and their signature Kidpower, Teenpower, and Fullpower sessions. These are tailored for school groups, private organizations, camps, businesses, and the general public. Their mission is to empower all Vermonters to protect themselves and others, creating a safer community for everyone. Laura taught all of us words we can use and teach others to use to stop aggressors for adults as well! We also learned how to make and enforce a safe environment for everyone. We should all think of groups that could benefit from this informative session and pass on those names and ideas to Laura Slesar at laura@kidpower.org or 802-425-KIDS. Jim Donovan presented a "What we wear when we take care", a children's book that will be be at the Shelburne Library in Laura's name.
