CSH Rotary Club Meeting Summary
The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a brief quote from Eleanor Roosevelt on the importance of staying active and contributing to the community. With no guests present, the club moved directly into business.
Halloween Parade – Final Prep
With the parade set for Sunday, members ran through assignments and logistics:
- Participation: 20 floats, groups, and vehicles are confirmed, including students, musicians, multiple local businesses, and at least two horses (with the Headless Horseman making an appearance).
- Route & Safety: The parade will start at the shopping park and follow the usual lollipop-shaped route, with fire and rescue taking the lead at key intersections. Rotary marshals will manage crowd control—members are reminded to focus on safety, keep kids off the roadway, and avoid throwing candy.
- Roles: Golf cart drivers must arrive before 11:00 a.m. for police escort. Candy sorting and bagging begins at 11:00 a.m. at Shelburne Market, led by Adam Bartsch. Food distribution teams will set up at the fire station at noon - 360 cider donuts and other supplies will be ready. Parade marshals and walkers must check in at the parade site no later than 1:30 p.m.
- After the Parade: Activities will continue at the town offices, including student performances, games, and events at Pearson Library. Members are encouraged to promote these options for families who want more than just the parade.
Reminders
- Communication: Any last-minute questions should be addressed before Sunday morning—call or email, but avoid non-essential calls on parade day.
- Branding: If you’re not in costume, wear Rotary gear for visibility. Costumes are available to borrow if needed.
- Parade Signs: After the event, return parade signs at the next meeting.
- Social Media: Share and engage with club posts for better outreach.
