Rotarian Amanda Wenzel talking with our President, Amanda Vincent
Today, at Rotary we discussed all that is going on in various committees:
- Sophie, our Chef, has informed us she won't be able to return in the same capacity. A group met during the club meeting last week and came up with three possible options to move forward. Stay tuned for more about these options.
- A group also met to discuss the Shelburne Farmers Market. The original idea was to do a booth once per month to promote Rotary. It seemed that the small group was really on board with the idea of selling grilled corn at Shelburne Day. At this point, I have only booked a booth space at the Farmer's Market for Shelburne Day.
- The Service Team also met and came up with two focuses for this summer. The first being the raised beds at the Howard Center Shelburne Road location. The second was incorporating a service activity into the Little League Snack Shack. Harriet proposed a potential food drive.
- Thank you to those who showed interest in the leadership opportunities.
We also heard from one of our own Rotarians, Amanda Wenzel. Amanda joined the club a few years ago - we were pleased to have her come and talk a bit about how she ended up in Vermont! We have decided to call these "testimonials" as they have been referred to in the past, "Member Spotlight Talks" instead as they seem to express the true meaning behind these important opportunities for all of us to get to know each other better. Amanda Wenzel presented the first Member Spotlight Talk - we are hoping to arrange at least one Member Spotlight Talk each month.
Amanda was born in Texas, went to college in Texas and started working as a film editor at a local television station - she moved up through the ranks and became Promotions Editor, Operations Director as well as worked on design development. She vacationed a bit in Vermont and felt Vermonters were so friendly and her husband had always wanted to find a place with more open land to bring up their children so after covid they decided to find a new place to live. She suggested they look at Vermont and ultimately this is where they ended up. She had always loved the work she did in design - Amanda found a job here in design, they found a home and loved it! A little more expensive to live in Vermont but also so beautiful; she loves the opportunity for her whole family to live and enjoy the out doors! "As a family, we find there is so much for all of us to do and we are very happy here."
