Our May 13th meeting included club announcements, fellowship updates, and a powerful presentation from the American Red Cross of Vermont. Members also paused to honor longtime Rotarian Phil, whose presence and service meant so much to our club.
We opened with announcements and reflection, including gratitude for everyone who supported last Friday’s Fiddlehead gathering. The club also received a $150 donation from South Burlington Rotary in recognition of 55 years of service in our community.
Upcoming opportunities included the May 21 spelling event at Champlain College, Dragon Boat registration, continued support for Snap Shack, and next week’s RYLA interviews.
A meaningful part of the meeting was a remembrance of Phil, a longtime Rotarian and Foundation supporter. Members shared stories about his humor, commitment, and the way he showed up week after week. We extend our condolences to his family and friends.
Our featured speaker was Sarah, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Vermont. She shared how the Red Cross supports Vermonters through blood services, home fire response, emergency sheltering, and disaster recovery. She also highlighted the immediate need for blood donors and volunteers.
Key takeaways included practical preparedness steps every household can take, from maintaining smoke alarms to having an emergency plan. Thank you to the American Red Cross for the important work they do across our state.
