President Richard Fox led the pledge and Kris Engstrom gave the devotional.
 
Richard introduced the visitors and Guests David Gladstone from the Burlington Rotary Club,  Bent Omen from the Tupper Lake Rotary Club, LouAnn Beninati, our guest speaker, Coordinator of Vermont’s STEP Ahead Recognition System (STARS)

Announcements:
David Gladstone – Burlington Rotary Club – Invited our club members to a fund raiser called A Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration with Eileen Ivers – “the Jimi Hendrix of the violin”- The event will tale place Friday march 13 at 8 PM on MainStage at Flynn Theater – Tickets are $75 – The Rotary has an arrangement for preferred seats.
 
Lara Keenan announced the Shelburne Library is offering ‘Tech’ answers – so when you need help with electronics stop by and see them at the library.
 
Lara Keenan and Gail Feitelberg are co-sponsors for Veteran’s Legacy Program – The task is to interview Shelburne Veterans and then digitize the personal stories for a Legacy Book and library archives.

Guest speaker:
Lara Keenan introduced LouAnn Beninati who has over 35 years of experience in the field of Early Care and Education in Vermont, most recently as Coordinator of Vermont’s STEP Ahead Recognition Systems (STARS).
 
LouAnn focuses on advocacy, consulting and teaching with a goal towards workforce development for the child care profession.

Now – Structure – sports, clubs, Video, Inside, Adults involved

LouAnn went on to talk about kids and percentages in the criminal system, why the needs of young children are so important, how working to lower cost of education, the need for social skills, the need for math skills
 
‘Let’s Grow Kids Campaign’ a three year statewide campaign to raise the knowledge base with a goal of changing Public Policy for young childhood programs
 
 
LouAnn went on to answer numerous questions from club members.
 
Richard thanked Louann with the donation of a book in her name to our local library.
Apropos the book’s title Little Humans.
