September 20, 2017 Meeting Notes
President Eric opened the meeting with. Welcome to all and lead us in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Kris shared an invocation.
Only guest present at today’s meeting was our speaker, Wendy Bratt from Connecting Youth Mentoring.

New Business
By-laws modifications approved by Board. Will be sent to all members for 10 days to read, review and offer feedback.
Alan Bates is withdrawing himself from President-Elect role and a replacement is needed, also a need a person to assume Vice President position. Volunteers will be sought for Nominating Committee to present for member vote at Annual Meeting.
Community Service Projects
Linda Gilbert indicated that the Charlotte Beach shed is still pending with an organizational meeting to happen soon.
Hands to Honduras - Organizational meeting #1 scheduled for Sunday, October 1, at 5 p.m. in the Shelburne Town Offices conference room.
Announcements
Eric is also currently president of the Shelburne Chapter of Business Networking International (BNI), and invited Rotarians to their meeting on Thursday mornings in the same space we meet. Much cross-over potential to be explored
Bill Root briefed us on the Rotary parking effort oaf Shelburne Farms Harvest Festival this past weekend. 1,725 car at 2 p.m. and one helicopter…..no incidents. Thanks to the many Rotarians who helped with this annual project.
Charlie Koffman reminded us of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society ‘Light the Night Walk’ coming this Friday. Team CSH will meet at Edmunds School at 6 p.m. to organize and start the walk. All are welcome!
Sam Feitelberg reminded us that Rosh Hashanah begins tonight and that it is a time of reflection and atonement, which we need in these complicated times.

Speaker
Wendy Bratt, coordinator of Connecting Youth Mentoring at Charlotte Central School (CCS) presented its mission as a prevention program by promoting good choices among young people. The program at CCS involves boys and girls in grades 5-8. For one hour a week, most weeks during the school year, a mentor can form a positive relationship with a young person, possibly making a real difference in their lives for years to come. Wendy said the program is thriving but is always in need of more mentor volunteers, particularly men.
