Linda Gilbert will share her recent trip to Tela, Honduras today.

 

Amanda received one RYLA application, and is seeking other sophomores who are eligible for this program. 

 

Amanda went to the District Conference and shared some of the events she attended,such as membership training, a literacy service project, Norwich Rotaract Club, Common Man Ukraine project.

 

$7,000 is the current letter campaign tally.

Memorial Day, May 29, Jon Hammer will be receiving a Quilt of Valor that day.  The ceremony is at 11:00.   

 

September 15 is the possible Golf Ball Drop date.  Pickleball Tournament is also still being worked on as a fundraiser.  This event would have thirty teams at $50 to $75 per team for entry.

 

Dave sent an email to the non profits from last years’ Farmers Market but response has been limited.  If anyone knows of any possibilities, email Dave.

Linda shared her experiences of the February trip to Tela,  Honduras.  

 

Tourism is very important to Tela with the beaches being a destination.  Pigs and palm plantations are their agricultural niche.  

 

There were fourteen members of the Tela group this year.  

 

They worked with Tela American School students daily, working on projects together. 

 

Hogar Materno has housed 4,000 pregnant women since the facility was built by this group along with the Neonatal Intensive Care Facility.  There is an exchange program with UVM Medical Center. 

 

Nurses station, painting, hold newborns, constructed Pediatra Anexo for children with respiratory diseases,  distributed donated children’s clothing,  provide school uniforms, four hundred flouride treatments,  and a plethora of other “brigades”  providing glasses, dental care and clothing.
