The 2022 International Antique and Classic Boat Show will be held September 5-10 at Burlington Harbor Marina.

John Dupee is our guest speaker today.

 

Carrie called the meeting to order at 7:30.

 

Shelburne Day is this saturday!  Volunteers are needed!

 

Per Denis and the Golf Ball Drop, sales are going well and a sign up for volunteers that day, September 16,will be available soon.  About $1800 has been raised so far. 

 

Ric announced the progress on the Non Car Raffle, the letters have been mailed out.  Raffle prizes continue to be collected. 

 

Rick spoke about the Halloween Parade and gave a brief rundown.  Rick encouraged our club to be more visible in order to demonstrate to the community that the CSH Rotary Club is the organizer and host of this popular community event.  Volunteers will be needed for food service, candy prep, golf cart drivers for crowd control, pickup and drop off of golf carts,to name a few. The parade will start our leadership team with the banner but then will segway to emergency vehicles.  We need to encourage participation IN the parade. Save the date, how do you want to volunteer and publicize, our current roles.  Food is still being negotiated. Non cooked food was acceptable last year.  

 

October 22 is the Chittenden County Rotary. Clubs Wood 4 Good event being planned, please volunteer!  The wood is donated to families in need.

 

Erica Webster spoke about the results of the new district committee she is serving on, Diversity and Equity.  We will hear more from this committee in the future.

 

Linda G shared the Time magazine cover, Doing More Good, pertinent to our cause.  

 

Denis collected the happy fines.

 

John Dupee spoke to promote the Antique and Classic Boat Show, showing a video. John shared that he was approached by this organization to host a moving Antique and Classic Boat Show here.  There are already one hundred and twenty boats coming.  The event itself is September 9th and 10th, with some events leading up to it. The theme of the show is “Along the Warpath” to honor the history of Lake Champlain.  The Burlington Marina will host the event.  This organization is dedicated to the preservation of the antique and classic boats.  Go to the website for more information: https://www.lcacbs.com

 

Jim Donovan presented John with the book The Old Wood Boat by Nikki McClure to be donated to The Carpenter Carse Library in Hinesburg in his name.
