President Susan presents Nick Baker with a check for $2,700 to the Hinesburg Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service.   This donation was made with funds raised by the Golf Ball Drop held in September. Similar donations have been made to Fire and Rescue Services in Charlotte and Shelburne.

CSH Rotary Club Holiday Giving Project

 

Susan called the meeting to order at 7:30. 

 

Nancy shared opening words.

 

Ric led the club in the four way test.

 

Susan welcomed Nick Baker from the Hinesburg Fire Dept.

 

Nancy reported on the Toys for Kids project. Some of the barrels being monitored by our club have already been full and brought to the Williston drop off center. 

 

Susan and Chris reported on the Gadue’s coat project which has also experienced robust donations and several bags have already been dropped off at Gadue’s. 

 

Susan discussed today’s club project is assembling children’s gift bags, assembling sixty bags.  These will be distributed to the area hotels where many children are residing. 

 

The club signed and prepared tags for Hinesburg and Charlotte food shelves whom will receive Christmas hams from the club.

 

Ric Flood inducted three new members into the Charlotte Shelburne Hinesburg club today. Dave Micklas, Robert Glover and Rene Sanchez. 

Dave Micklas shared the he is the new Branch Manager at Union Bank in Shelburne.  He has been working in the banking industry since 1996.  Dave is a past president of Essex Rotary.  

Robert Glover has been visiting Vermont for over forty years, he and his wife moved here permanently six years ago.  He works remotely for Wells Fargo Bank. 

Rene Sanchez spoke to our group recently but expressed his pleasure at being part of our club as a former member of Rotary in South Bend,IN.

 

Chris and Susan presented Nick Baker with a donation for $2,700 for the support of the Hinesburg Fire Dept & EMS.  These proceeds were collected from the Golf Ball Drop.  Nick joined us for breakfast to accept the check.  Nick shared the department has thirty volunteer members. They are starting ambulance response in addition to fire response and they also cover the town of St. George.  They have had six hundred emergency calls this year.    

 

The club’s Christmas party will be at Cucina Antica on December 15 from 5:00 to 7:00.  We will have a sign up sheet for this next week since numbers are required.  There will be a buffet and a cash bar.

 

Carole Obuchowski spoke to the club about Rotary Foundation giving as collection is this time of year. This is the international effort of Rotary which donates monies worldwide.  When donating your dollars can be designated to causes such as maternal needs, Polio Plus, education or disaster response to name a few. Our club is matching the first $1,000, which has already been met.  Checks can be made payable to Rotary Foundation and given or mailed to Carole.  Online donation is also possible.  

 

Denis collected the happy fines.  

 

The club closed the meeting with the assembly of the holiday gift bags for the area children.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30.
